Hand N Foot Group

They really need a name, like Hand N Foot Super Heroes or The Amazing HNF Group! They seem to have so much fun together, yet are VERY serious about the game. Someone had even brought a birthday cake for Larry (in blue shirt)! They seem to party hardy! LOL

May Covered Dish Luncheon

Well, it seems if you offer good Southern fried chicken, everyone will come!  (Well, almost everyone anyway!)  We tell the folks, “Prayer is at noon,” so they start showing up about 11:15!   We have the drinks out, the coffee on, and everyone is greeting their friends and neighbors AND the serving tables are filling up with fabulous salads, veggies, and a six-foot long table full of nothing but desserts!!  Oh my goodness!

We knew we were going to have a max crowd today, so I told the card players last night they had better come early to get a table!  Looks like the word got out!

I have a little bell someone donated to help me get everyone’s attention so we can quiet down for the prayer, and then everyone heads for the serving room!  We have such sweet residents, they are always willing to help each other carry plates or get drinks if needed.

Needless to say, as soon as folks started getting their plates, things got real quiet as they concentrated on the great food!

The Cottages at Woodland Terrace Sponsors Golf Tournament at The Club at Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, GA

Held at the newly refurbished and re-named “The Club at Lake Sinclair,” we were honored to sponsor hole #11 at the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber 23rd Annual Golf Tournament. As it turned out, that was where the hole in one prize car was parked; a beautiful, black 2019 Jeep Cherokee. We put up a tent and gave away drinks, red Milledgville hats and just had a great time greeting all the golfers as they came through. We had a great time teasing and encouraging each golfer that they could make that hole-in-one and drive that car right off the hole. Our company marketing team, Ben Sandifer and Sheryl Towers, were there, along with our community manager, Nancy Fullilove. The weather was simply gorgeous, everyone was their usual “Milledgeville-friendly” self, so who could ask for a better way to spend the day?

Art Exhibit at Woodland Terrace in Milledgeville

Sunday afternoon, 4/29, we had an art exhibit and had so much fun.  You know, we have an art group here that meets once a month to paint in acrylics.  Some of the group had never held a brush before, while others used to paint when they were younger.  So, we decided as a group that everyone’s talents needed to be brought out of the closet, whether old or new, and exulted!  So, four residents came Saturday afternoon and decided how everything should be displayed (by category, not artist), and helped design the hangings and table displays.  We created name tags for each item stating artist, title of item, medium, and year it was created, just like a REAL exhibit!  Everyone worked for hours and we got it done.

Sunday morning I got the room we use for our buffets decorated and finger food put together with champagne, coffee, beer, and soft drinks and by 3:00 folks started arriving.

We created voting ballots and handed out pens as they walked in the door and everyone appeared to carefully look, contemplate and discuss with each other the merits of various pieces of work, marking their ballots appropriately.

At 5:00 we began tallying the votes and awarded the following ribbons:

AARP Safe Driving Course offered at The Cottages

Each year we host the AARP Safe Driving course at least once. In fact, locals often call us during the year to see when it will be offered next! Gary Dunagan comes from Macon and teaches the class over a two day period, from 9 a.m. until noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This year we have twenty-nine folks signed up! It’s a little close, so if they weren’t friends when they came to the class, they might be by the time they leave! But, it’s a nice little something for us to do to contribute to the larger Milledgeville/Baldwin County community.
